Metro-North Railroad says it expects all damaged track near Spuyten Duyvil (the Bronx) on its Hudson Line to be fully repaired by Monday, July 29, 2013, following a CSX train derailment July 18 which caused extensive track damage.

The railroad reopened one of two tracks on the stretch last Monday, and has gradually increased service on the route, starting with morning and evening rush-hour frequencies.

Repair work was hampered by the location, where the Hudson Line (only two tracks at the accident location) travels between rock walls or cliffs, making it difficult for cranes and other service equipment to access the site.

Plans call for service to be suspended during the weekend of July 27-28, but Metro-North stressed that service Friday evening would be offered, including to Yankee Stadium to serve baseball fans attending the game there.
