The Maryland & Delaware Railroad Co. (MDDE) of Federalsburg, Md., was recently honored by Eastman Chemical Company of Kingsport, Tenn., with a Special Recognition award for superior service to the Eastman facility on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

“Since Eastman acquired its Chestertown site from Genovique Specialties Corp. in 2010, MDDE and Eastman have partnered to establish just-in-time rail deliveries at Chestertown to maximize site production,” said Eastman Rail Procurement Director Edward Palmer. “MDDE consistently exceeds expectations and are truly great to work with, which is why we are honoring them with an Eastman Special Recognition for their consistent strong service.”

MDDE President Eric Callaway accepted the award on behalf of MDDE. Callaway stated, “I am honored to accept this award on behalf of our employees, who have earned this kind of recognition. MDDE has worked hard to create and maintain the culture of safety, teamwork, and trust that exists with Eastman. It is a proud relationship to have with one of our region’s critical economic engines.”

The Maryland & Delaware Railroad Co. operates 120 route-miles serving many of the primary manufacturing facilities in the Delmarva region and is a major transporter of agricultural, chemical, and industrial products.
