“These orders are the first of what is expected to be several hundred per year,” said Protran Technology Director of Rail Operations Mike Davis. “The Collision Avoidance System will prevent costly accidents between vehicles, damages to equipment, and injuries to operators and track personnel. Our system can accurately detect at distances up to 1,000 feet or greater in the harshest conditions, including tunnels and curves.”
“This newest Protran Technology system has several key features,” said Davis. “Data logging of more than 2,000 events, a real-time clock, vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-personnel warning, multiple inputs and outputs, and travel mode and work mode settings. It’s the only system that gives a warning between vehicle and track personnel, and it does not depend on GPS or UWB (ultra-wideband), which have proven to be unreliable, hard to maintain, and extremely expensive.”
