Alsip, Ill.-based Railhead Corp. said Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2014 that it is celebrating the half-century mark this month.
The company provides digital video products for the transportation industry, with customized mobile and stationary video surveillance for freight railroads, regional/commuter rail, and fleet vehicles. Products include LDVRs, cameras, video management, GPS, and wireless accessories.
Founded in 1964 by Harry Robertson as a tool repair business and manufacturing representative for the railroad industry, Railhead expanded its role to include manufacturing, and now oversees three divisions serving rail, maritime, and mining customers.
The company divisions include: Railhead Vision Systems, providing on-board video systems for locomotives and cab cars; Railhead Gear, a manufacturer and distributor of locomotive LEDs and LED safety warning lights and equipment; and K&E Tools, specializing in the sale and service of high-quality air tools for more than 30 years.
Last April Railhead Corp. said it has been selected by SunRail to provide Locomotive Digital Video Recorder (LDVR) systems for the Orlando, Fla., metropolitan area regional rail service, which began operations on May 1, 2014.
