Portland, Ore.'s TriMet on Monday, Aug. 25, 2014 towed a MAX light rail train across a portion of the Tilikum Crossing bridge, testing for clearances and other issues in anticipation of the bridge's opening in the fall of 2015.
The train also was towed along portions of the new 7.3-mil3e Portland-Milwaukee LRT line, still under construction, which extends TriMet's LRT Yellow Line to Portland's southeastern suburbs.
The bridge will carry LRT, streetcars, bicycles, and pedestrian traffic, but not automobiles as a rule, although TriMet says "emergency responders will be able to drive on it if necessary."
