R. J. Corman Railroad Company/Texas Lines LLC late Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 announced the purchase of the assets of Texas Southeastern Railroad (TSE), previously a subsidiary of Georgia-Pacific LLC.
Located in Diboll, Tex., TSE serves several industry customers, including Atlas Roofing, Agridyne, Momentive Chemicals, Georgia-Pacific, and Laminate Technologies.
"We are very pleased to complete the acquisition of TSE Railroad," said R. J. Corman Railroad Group President & CEO Craig King, in a statement. "This acquisition will complement our existing Texas assets and is consistent with our company strategy to responsibly grow our rail and rail related assets and services."
Nicholasville, Ky.-based R.J. Corman on July 9, 2014 filed with the Surface Transporetation Board to acquire TSE to "operate approximately 12 miles of track known as the Texas Southeastern Railroad (the Line) in Angelina County, Tex."
STB defined the property as: "(1) Approximately two miles of mainline operating track in Diboll, Tex.; (2) some excepted connecting industrial spurs to shipper facilities; and (3) approximately 10 miles of adjoining excepted track, which is now used for rail car storage only and not for transportation purposes."
Last week, R.J. Corman Railroad Group acquired St. Augustine, Fla.-based Roadway Worker Training, Inc.(RWT), which provides specialized training and support services to the railroad industry.
