Bombardier Transportation said Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014 it had "signed a new contract" to continue running New Jersey Transit's RiverLINE, roughly paralleling the Delaware River between Camden, N.J., and the state capital, Trenton.
The contract, valued at about $296 million, stretches for 15 years, with an option for five more years. Bombardier has managed RiverLINE operations since the 34-mile diesel light rail transit (DLRT) line opened in March 2004, under a Bombardier subsidiary, Southern New Jersey Rail Group.
The new contract, effective March 14, 2015, makes Bombardier responsible for train operations, dispatching, vehicle maintenance, maintenance for all right-of-way (shared in part with Conrail Shared Assets freight activity), facilities, and signaling infrastructure.
We are pleased to continue our partnership with NJ Transit in providing reliable, safe, efficient and customer-friendly service to River Line Light Rail passengers," said Raymond Bachant, president, Americas Division, Bombardier Transportation.
