The first electric multiple-unit coaches ordered by the Denver Regional Transportation District, for its electric regional commuter rail system, have departed the Hyundai-Rotem plant in South Philadelphia for Denver.

Hyundai-Rotem manufactures the carshells in Korea. Final assembly takes place in Philadelphia, where four railcars are configured as a single EMU prior to being shipped to Denver via freight rail. This first trainset is expected to arrive in Denver the week of Nov. 17.

These high-level-platform-boarding EMUs will be used on four RTD FasTracks lines beginning in 2016—the East Rail Line to Denver International Airport, the Northwest Rail Line to Westminster, the Gold Line to Arvada/Wheat Ridge, and the North Metro Rail Line To Thornton.
