BART on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2014, opened its $484 million rail extension to Oakland International Airport, with BART officials noting it's the second such rail-to-air BART link, joining that provided at San Francisco International Airport.
The new 3.2-mile route replaces a shuttle bus service. An estimated 2,745 passengers per day are expected on the line in its first year, about the same number riding the AirBART shuttle buses that are being discontinued, officials said.
The new service still involves a transfer at BART's Coliseum Station. It operates between 5:00 a.m. and midnight, in line with the overall BART system. The fare on the leg is $6.
