Fairport, N.Y.-based RailComm said Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014 it has "migrated to a new datacenter in response to increased operations through its hosted delivery service."

The new datacenter is home to RailComms' Domain Operations Controller (DOC®) platform, software that is currently used to control and dispatch thousands of miles of track throughout North America, the company said.

The new Datacenter has been selected with special attention paid to increased multi-level redundancy, as well as security and carrier agnostic colocation. Moving away from a colocation owned by Internet Service Provider allows for multiple sources of internet connectivity, leading to a more reliable and highly redundant network, RailComm said.

Additionally, a new Storage Area Network allows for a more robust infrastructure of data storage, and ensures zero downtime with any change to architecture.

In addition to RailComm's DOC platform, this new datacenter will host a variety of new web-based control and monitoring solutions. Customers utilizing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions benefit from operating the latest versions of the DOC system and high availability of the applications, in addition to decreasing upfront investment of implementing the system, RailComm said.
