The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCS) will increase train speed on its Laredo Subdivision line that runs from Laredo to Corpus Christi, Tex., from 49 to 59 miles per hour, effective June 7, 2015. This will include the communities of Aguilares, Bruni and Realitos. In Oilton, the speed will increase from 45 to 59 miles per hour. The increase in train speed over these track segments is possible due to recent track improvements, KCS says.
There are some exceptions on the line where the speed will not increase, however. These include the KCS yard limits on either side of the Laredo Subdivision line, as well as the communities of Mirando City, Hebbronville, Benavides, San Diego, Agua Dulce, Banquete and Robstown.
