Kansas City Southern has named Brian D. Hancock, a veteran supply chain executive with experience in home appliances, trucking, fast food and discount consumer products, as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer.
Immediately prior to joining KCS, Hancock was Senior Vice President-Supply Chain for Family Dollar Stores, Inc. Formerly, he was Vice President-Global Supply Chain for Whirlpool Corp., where he led the development of a multimodal, worldwide logistics strategy for Whirlpool’s Mexican manufacturing operation. Prior to that, he served as Vice President and General Manager at Schneider National. More recently, Hancock served as President-North America for The Martin-Brower Company, L.L.C., the largest supplier of food and materials to McDonald’s restaurants worldwide.
Hancock will report to KCS President Patrick J. Ottensmeyer. “Brian’s in-depth knowledge of the North American transportation network, along with his extensive experience managing complex global supply chains, will provide Kansas City Southern with the expertise and leadership necessary to expand its services and logistical solutions to its customers,” said Ottensmeyer. “His understanding of U.S./Mexico cross-border logistics and KCS’s rail network will be an invaluable resource, both for our company and our customers.”
Hancock is currently a member of the board of directors for the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP) and the Marriott School Supply Chain advisory board at Brigham Young University. He has previously served as chairman of the Distribution Council for McDonald’s Corp. and as chairman of the General Motors Corp. Supplier Council. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in business from Virginia Commonwealth University.
