The Association of American Railroads Coupling System and Truck Casting Committee has approved the new Strato Inc. E50BE Knuckle as meeting the AAR M-216 Knuckle Fatigue Test specification, which requires an average fatigue life of at least 600,000 cycles.
“The Strato E Knuckle is one of only a few on the market to meet this specification,” said Strato President and CEO Mike Foxx. “Its M-216 approval confirms the dramatic maintenance savings users have reported from the field. Additionally, it has received approval to all AAR requirements for material, foundry technical, quality assurance and component standards. Strato’s optimum manufacturing processes ensure consistent fit and function, longer life, and smooth operation.”
In addition to the knuckle, Strato also offers a line of couplers and coupler assembly components, among which are the SBE60, E69 and EF511. “These products, along with our high strength yoke design, provide a superior package that the longer, heavier, faster trains in service today need,” said Foxx. “Strato continues to ‘Exceed the Need’ by fatigue testing our coupler designs to our own rigorous internal standards. These are exciting times for Strato.”
Piscataway, N.J.-based Strato Inc., which describes itself as “a leading manufacturer of quality products for the rail industry,” offers airbrake hose and components, freight and passenger car parts, castings and fabrications as well as custom product design and engineering services. Strato will be exhibiting the E50BE Knuckle and many other products at Railway Interchange 2015, Booth 3709 (RSI section).
