WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff fills transportation planning role

Richard J. Marcus will support the management of complex transportation planning projects as a senior supervising planner in the Los Angeles office of WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, the firm announced Sept. 25, 2015. He will also support planning initiatives in the firm's Orange office.

Marcus has 15 years of transportation planning experience and has been involved in managing, researching and writing planning reports and multimodal studies detailing transit, high-speed rail, bus transfer centers, bike and pedestrian facilities, highways, arterials, commuter rail, ports, and other modes of transportation.

Prior to joining WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff, Marcus served in senior management positions with a variety of government agencies, including the Orange County Transportation Authority, the Southern California Association of Governments, the Metropolitan Transportation Commission in the San Francisco Bay Area, MTA-Metro North Railroad in New York, Mountain Metro Transit in Colorado Springs, San Francisco County Transportation Authority, and Citybus in Santa Rosa. He has also worked for a transportation planning consultancy firm.

Marcus received a master's degree in transportation planning and a Bachelor's Degree in sociology, both from the University of California at Los Angeles. He also earned a public policy certificate from the London School of Economics.
