SEPTA Route 10 trolley trackwork almost done

SEPTA says it is on schedule to complete a track renewal project on Lancaster Avenue in Philadelphia between 40th and 44th streets, with work expected to be done by Aug. 31.

Full resumption of SEPTA Route 10 trolley service along the route is set to resume Sunday, Sept. 1.

The project is replacing track that installed in the early 1980s, the quality ofwhich Philadelphia-area rail advocates have often lamented. SEPTA says the current upgrade includes excavating, renewing, and paving approximately 4,000 track feet, including the use of panels along the rails to ensure a smoother and quieter experience. >

SEPTA’s Subway-Surface Trolley Route 10, also known as the the Lancaster Avenue-Subway Line, runs about 11.6 miles from 63^rd and Malvern east to 13^th Street in Center City Philadelphia.
