“SYSTRA is committing a major investment to create the next generation of RAILSIM® software designed to provide easier use with faster operation of simulation models and reports,” said William Crosbie, P.Eng., President and CEO of SYSTRA’s U.S. subsidiary. “SYSTRA will also be soliciting the input of RAILSIM® users to include enhancements we envision for the software. One of the major RAILSIM® improvements will be to improve the functionality of the software, resulting in an easier user interface and providing cloud web-based access.
As of Monday, Aug. 26, RAILSIM® support will be operating from SYSTRA’s New York City headquarters to be more closely situated to clients and to provide prompt support to RAILSIM® users. Vice President Planning & Operations Analysis Wes Coates is in charge of this operation.
SYSTRA will also continue to expand RAILSIM®’s new PTC (Positive Train Control) feature to accommodate the needs of railroads in simulating the impact of PTC on their operations. In addition RAILSIM® will be enhanced to support rail and transit systems using CBTC (Communications-Based Train Control).
Other significant RAILSIM® upgrades include improvements to the Train Performance Calculator, updating the Vehicle Inventory, and adding enhancements to the Load Flow Analyzer. “These upgrades will provide RAILSIM® clients the information they need to improve rail and transit operations and electric traction system performance,” said Crosbie. “We are continuing our more than 20-year commitment to RAILSIM® clients to provide everyone with a world-class tool for analyzing railroad operations and making effective decisions to improve service delivery to customers.”
