Alaska Railroad seeks new president and CEO

The Alaska Railroad Corp. is looking for a new president and CEO and is accepting applications up until Sept. 27. The railroad’s seven-member board of directors says it’s seeking “a decisive leader with strong business experience in the transportation industry or an in-depth understanding of supply chain management. Experience working in the Alaska business community is preferred.”

The Alaska Railroad, described as “a self-sustaining, state-owned corporation,” offers year-round passenger and freight train. With more than 650 miles of track, the railroad serves more than 13 different municipalities and boroughs, connecting ports and communities from the Gulf of Alaska to the Interior. Headquartered in Anchorage, the Alaska Railroad has an average workforce size, recognizing seasonality, of 700 full-time employees and generates more than $180 million in revenue yearly. The corporation’s assets are valued at more than $985 million.
