BNSF President and CEO Carl Ice accepted Railway Age’s 53rd annual Railroader of the Year award Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at Chicago’s Union League Club, at the traditional dinner hosted by the Western Railway Club.
On the dais were Ice’s immediate predecessors at BNSF, both prior Railroader of the Year recipients: 1996 honoree Rob Krebs of the Santa Fe, who with co-honoree Gerald Grinstein of the Burlington Northern forged the merger that created BNSF; and BNSF Executive Chairman Matt Rose.
Railway Age also honored its inaugural Fast Trackers, 10 rising stars under the age of 40 who have made an impact in their respective fields or within their company. They are, in the photo from left to right: Erich Leonard, New York Air Brake; Daniel Lyons, Conrail; Roquita Coleman, CN; Katie Theis, HNTB; Josh Connell, Genessee & Wyoming; Toeey Swan, Canadian Pacific; Caroline Woyer, Norfolk Southern; Anthony Fazio, SEPTA; Dave Hill, Amtrak; and Joe Brosseau, TTCI.
