Rocky Mountaineer, which operates tourist trains in western Canada and Washington State, has awarded a contract to Switzerland's Stadler to build 10 double-deck passenger coaches for delivery in 2018.
The new coaches will have glass-domed roofs on the upper deck to maximize the scenic view for passengers. Some coaches will have dining facilities on the lower deck.
The new coaches are part of Rocky Mountaineer's project to revitalize its entire fleet, which includes refurbishing existing vehicles. The company says that this is the largest capital investment program since it launched its first services in 1990.
