Off the drawing board, and onto the map: New York City's Second Avenue Subway.
After its board meeting May 25, 2016, the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority released the first subway system map to include the Second Avenue Subway.
The first section, connecting 72nd, 86th and 96th streets with the Q line, is scheduled to open in December 2016. A city dream since the 1920s, after decades of false starts, the line broke ground in April 2007, and now finally appears on the horizon, or at least, on the map.
