PTSI Transportation and the Chicago Railroad Superintendents Association are jointly offering the Railroad and Rail Transit Physical Characteristics Training and Testing: Are We Where We Need to Be? conference in Chicago on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016.
According to PTSI Transportation Managing Director Michael Weinman, the conference offers “a multi-disciplined perspective on the needs of freight and passenger railroads, rail transit systems, regulatory bodies and first responders for training and testing on physical characteristics. It is a non-profit event being conducted for the benefit of the industry, to exchange best practices among attendees.”
Topics to be covered:
• Current and best practices for teaching and testing physical characteristics.
• Differing physical characteristics training needs on Class I, regional and short line, commuter, rail transit and intercity passenger carriers.
• How regulatory agencies view physical characteristics training and testing.
• New teaching and testing technologies.
• How first responder training and testing needs differ from railroad needs.
The conference will be held at Metra headquarters, 547 West Jackson Blvd., directly across from Chicago Union Station, and will run from 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM, with a working lunch and coffee breaks. Registration is $95; $195 for suppliers wishing to exhibit. Metra Executive Director Donald Orseno is scheduled to open the proceedings.
