Harsco Rail, Harsco Corp.’s railway track maintenance division, has landed new sales of its rail grinding machines throughout North America for service in RailWorks Corp.-conducted contract rail grinding programs. The company says its sales to RailWorks marks Harsco’s return to the North American contract grinding sector.

Harsco Rail and RailWorks Maintenance of Way, Inc., formed a partnership in 2015 to provide grinding services to Class I railroads. RailWorks operating personnel conduct the services, with Harsco technical support. RailWorks currently has three Harsco grinders in service; the most recent entered service in November. A fourth unit is expected to enter service within the first six months of 2017. These sales have a cumulative value of approximately $20 million.

Harsco grinders now feature the Jupiter II Control System, a laser profile measurement system, onboard dust collection and fire suppression, and an ergonomically-designed, noise-reducing operator cabin.

“Our win-win relationship with RailWorks in deploying these machines throughout North America addresses a key strategic objective for our business,” said Harsco Rail President Jeswant Gill. “We could not be more pleased to mark our return to this sector than by joining forces with one of the most trusted names in the contract services industry.”
