CN announced that the 12th edition of the CN Canadiens Alumni Challenge raised C$360,000 at a friendly hockey game.
The proceeds will benefit charitable organizations supported by the CN Employees' and Pensioners' Community Fund (CN Community Fund), notably the Service d'entraide de Charny. "We are very proud to make a significant contribution that will help make a difference for many charity organizations," said Olivier Chouc, CN vice-president of law, and chairman of the board of the CN Community Fund. "I grew up in Quebec City, so I was glad we could play against the Canadiens Alumni on a Quebec City ice rink. I wish to congratulate our employees, retirees and partners who generously donated to the community through our CN Community Fund."
At Pavillon de la jeunesse, CN's hockey club played against a team of former Montreal Canadiens including Stéphane Richer, Francis Bouillon, Patrice Brisebois and Chris Nilan, with Guy Lafleur as head coach.
The CN Canadiens Almuni Challenge is the CN Community Fund's largest fundraiser. Since its first edition, in 2002, the event has raised more than C$3 million for charities across North America.
