The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association (ASLRRA) announced on Dec. 21 its selection of Georgetown Rail Equipment Company (GREX) as a preferred provider in the association’s Member Discount Program.
GREX’s Aurora® Track Inspection Technology (Aurora) will be available to ASLRRA Members with preferred pricing.
“Our member railroads are keenly interested in technology that will enable safe operations. Track maintenance is one of the key factors in safe operations, and an area where railroads spend significant resources,” said Linda Bauer Darr, President of ASLRRA.
ASLRRA announced: "Aurora’s® inspection system uses a combination of cameras and lasers to generate a high-resolution 3-D profile of the track and assigns a tie grade and GPS coordinate for every tie inspected. Aurora® allows railroads to pinpoint problems such as defective tie clusters and 39’ FRA tie condition defects."Aurora® also allows railroads to formulate tie replacement programs with unparalleled accuracy and predict future tie capital needs. Inspections are performed via hi-rail truck at speeds up to 42mph and the data is post-processed at GREX™ HQ. Once processed, analysts generate custom reports that can be downloaded by the customer."
“We are excited to partner with the ASLRRA and offer a special pricing commitment for their short line members. For years, Aurora® has helped railroads better manage tie and track condition by applying an unbiased and uniform tie grading scale regardless of location or local influences. Using Aurora®, Railroads gain a clearer picture of exactly where and how much tie capital needs to be spent”, said Nate Bachman, Vice President Marketing & Sales of GREX.
