Sheffield Crossing 1, LLC, a managed affiliate of OmniTRAX, Inc., is selling a 10-acre lot in its recently acquired site to the City of Sand Springs, Okla. Located southwest of downtown Sand Springs, the site will be used for municipal public safety services including a fire department substation.
“We support all of the communities where we have operations and our team members live. The opportunity to provide a location for the new Sand Springs Public Safety Facility is a huge win for all of us,” said Kevin Shuba, CEO of OmniTRAX, Inc.
An OmniTRAX affiliate purchased the Sand Springs Railway Company and the adjacent 146-acre former steel mill site from Gerdau in 2014 and is developing the property for mixed use, including industrial, retail, office and transportation/ logistics. Working collaboratively with Sand Springs, OmniTRAX is in conversations with various companies to build a retail development along Highway 97.
“The City of Sand Springs is pleased OmniTRAX has purchased the Gerdau property and we look forward to working together to spur job growth and bring development at this location. We are very encouraged by conversations with OmniTRAX regarding economic development, specifically utilizing a portion of the property for a retail district. Their suggestion to make a site available for public safety shows what great community partners they are,” said Sand Springs Mayor Mike Burdge.
Sand Springs Police Chief Mike Carter added; “The site of our new Public Safety Facility will provide much better response times for emergency calls and will limit any inconvenience to residential areas. The facility and the expected development by OmniTRAX also allows us to redefine and transform the neighborhood into an attractive, safe area for our citizens and visitors.”
