Siemens announced on January 4 that it will provide traction power supply equipment for the first 9km (5.6-mile) section of metro Line 1 in Lima.
Graña y Montero awarded the €25m ($27m) contract in December 2016 and design works began immediately.
Provisional acceptance for all of the contracted works will be in December 2018.
Siemens is upgrading the existing overhead contact line system and modifying electrification in the depots to increase both the availability and the cost-effectiveness of the line. The upgrades will be carried out without disrupting train operations.
