AllTranstek LLC, Downers Grove, Ill., a provider of tank car fleet management and technical services, has made two key senior-level appointments.

Andy Schaffer has been appointed Chief Operating Officer; Jan Marino has been named Manager of Business Development.

As COO and a key member of the executive team, Schaffer has day-to-day responsibility for operational execution of technical service departments at AllTranstek, including fleet management, client services, regulatory compliance, NDT/special processes and inspection services.

Schaffer has an extensive background in the operation of railcar repair facilities including heavy tank car repairs, alterations and conversion programs. He served as Senior Vice President at GBW Railcar Services and Watco Mechanical Services and spent over more than 30 years in various labor and managerial positions at Rescar Companies. Schaffer was one of the initial members of Transtek Solutions, which merged with AllTrans in 2000 to form AllTranstek..

“I am delighted to have Andy back as part of our executive leadership team”, said Jeff Wilson, President of AllTranstek. “His combination of industry, railcar repair operations, regulatory and customer knowledge uniquely positions Andy to drive AllTranstek’s operating priorities and aligns well with our vision for the future”.

“I’m excited to be back at AllTranstek and once again become part of this very experienced and capable team,” Schaffer said. “We are developing a wide range of new products and strategies to address the rail industry’s most difficult issues and to better serve our clients in 2017 and beyond.”

Marino “will leverage more than 20 years of commercial railcar industry experience to identify new client growth opportunities and current client needs,” AllTranstek said. “She will also drive marketing and communications.”

Marino has extensive experience in sales and customer service. Prior to joining AllTranstek, she worked in railcar component sales with builders, leasing companies, shippers, and repair networks as an account manager at Salco Products. Prior to Salco, she worked at GE Rail Services. AllTranstek Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer Richard J. Kloster described Marino as “a tenacious, customer focused force” with “an exceptional ability to connect with clients and facilitate company growth. Her hiring demonstrates increased commitment toward strengthening relationships among our client base and expanding our breadth of services across the rail sector.”

AllTranstek manages more than 250,000 railcars of all types for some of North America’s largest companies. The company’s Technical Services Group provides technical and operational support to the rail equipment supply chain, including field inspections, engineering, regulatory compliance, NDT Level III, NDT training and welding support. Its Strategic Services Group provides clients with market research, analytics, forecasting and strategic consulting services in the rail supply chain sector.
