Bombardier’s rail business employs U.S. workers in locations across 15 states with more than 7,500 employees in North America. This includes manufacturing sites at Pittsburgh, Pa., and Plattsburgh, N.Y., that build rail products for the domestic and export markets. Bombardier also operates a network of maintenance centers supporting commuter rail fleets in Boston, Los Angeles, South Florida, San Diego, and Baltimore. It provides operations and maintenance services NJ Transit’s Trenton-Camden River LINE diesel light rail, and manages operations and maintenance services for driverless transit systems in 14 U.S. cities. Bombardier’s vehicle and component refurbishment center is located in New York; its U.S.-based parts distribution center for rail is in Plattsburgh.
Bombardier supplies rail vehicles and equipment, signaling products and systems, system integration, and other services to major transit and airport authorities world-wide. Its installed fleet includes high speed trains, commuter trains, locomotives, light rail vehicles, subway vehicles, monorails, signaling systems, and fully automated transit systems.
The AAR has officially opened nominations for AAR committee seats reserved for Railroad Affiliate Members and Associate Members. Nomination materials and a list of available seats were sent out to the primary AAR membership contact for each eligible member railroad and company on Nov. 1. Member railroads and companies are invited to coordinate with their primary membership contact at their company to nominate qualified individuals to contribute their expertise as full voting members on a select group of AAR committees operating under the Safety & Operations Management Committee (SOMC). The deadline for nominations is close of business Friday, Nov. 15. The AAR Associate Advisory Board (AAB) will meet on Thursday, Dec. 5, to choose Associate Member representatives from among the available nominees. The Affiliate Executive Board (AEB) will meet to choose Railroad Affiliate Member representatives on Dec. 6.
Voting for the four open seats on the 2014 AAR Associate Advisory Board has concluded. Flagship Rail Services, LLC has been re-elected to the AAB at-large seat and will serve a second three-year term on the board. Four Gold Associate Members have been selected by the membership to serve on the AAB from 2014-2016: Union Tank Car Company (Car Owner & Lessor category); FreightCar America, Inc. (Mechanical & Rolling Stock Manufacturing category); and Plasser American Corp. (Track, Bridge, Signal & Engineering category).
