Metra’s Office of Diversity and Civil Rights will host a free “Doing Business with Metra” event from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, May 11, at Metra headquarters, 547 W. Jackson Blvd. in Chicago.
The event will offer small business owners and representatives an opportunity to meet with Metra staff, learn about the functions of the Office of Diversity and Civil Rights and receive information regarding Metra’s upcoming projects.
“We’re committed to making sure businesses of all types and sizes have the tools and information needed to effectively bid on Metra contracts,” said Metra Executive Director/CEO Don Orseno. “The goal of this event is to give small businesses a fair chance to take advantage of the numerous opportunities available at Metra.”
In 2016 Metra launched the Small Business Enterprise (SBE) Program, to increase the number of competitively awarded contracts to small businesses, maximize contract opportunities and minimize contract bundling.
The event is intended for small businesses, including those that have received their Disadvantaged Business Enterprise or Small Business Enterprise certifications, as well as those that have not been certified. Staff from Metra’s procurement, engineering and mechanical departments also will speak during the event.
