Metra reopened station platforms at its Downers Grove (Ill.) Main Street Station Wednesday morning, Oct. 1, 2014.

Metra noted that construction work was not yet complete; replacement of the east end of both platforms "will resume in 2015," it said. Metra added, "ADA riders at Downers Grove Main Street should note that a temporary concrete path has been placed at the far eastern end of the outbound platform at Washington Street. Temporary guard rail and hand rails have also been placed a various locations along the platform's ramp and stairs to assist riders."

Downers Grove Station lies roughly at the midpoint of Metra’s BNSF Railway Line, linking Chicago’s Union Station with Aurora, Ill., about 38 miles west of Chicago.

Along with partner BNSF and John Burns Construction, Metra "will continue to work closely with the village when the project resumes in Spring 2015. The village will provide residents with project updates through its website," Metra said.
