Wi-Tronix, LLC has announced "a new collaboration" with InStep Software "allowing Wi-Tronix to utilize InStep's PRiSM predictive asset analytics software in the company's locomotive remote monitoring services."

Bolingbrook, Ill.-based Wi-Tronix, a supplier of wireless monitoring products for the railroad industry, is adding a new train monitoring service called Wi-Nostix to its comprehensive portfolio. The Wi-Nostix service team will utilize InStep's PRiSM predictive asset monitoring software for advanced analytics and diagnostics of locomotive performance, Wi-Tronix said in a statement.

Chicago-based InStep and Wi-Tronix said PRiSM learns from existing sensor data and uses advanced pattern recognition to identify subtle deviations in operating behavior that are often the early warning signs of equipment problems. PRiSM's technology will be used by the Wi-Nostix team to proactively identify and diagnose issues, extend locomotive life, and prevent mainline failures, the companies said.

"Partnering with an industry leading provider of predictive monitoring technology allows us to offer Wi-Nostix, further improving the operational efficiency and service reliability of our customers' high value mobile assets," said Wi-Tronix President Larry Jordan. "InStep is known for its best-in-class software solutions, and we are confident that our customers will see a greater return from their locomotive fleets when using Wi-Nostix remote monitoring services, enabled by InStep's PRiSM technology."

"PRiSM-driven Wi-Nostix for locomotives can help detect issues like faulty injectors, bad power assemblies, cooling system failures, fuel system problems and more, allowing operators to take action before the issues escalate and costly line of road failures occur," said InStep President John Kalanik. "The possibilities are endless and this significant partnership again demonstrates the growing demand and capabilities of predictive asset monitoring software across industries."
