Allen Wright, 76, a well-known and highly respected figure in the rail transit industry for more than 60 years, died at his home in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
Born in Treharris, South Wales, Wright began his career in London, England, with London Transport, where he served an apprenticeship to become a mechanical engineer. After emigrating to Canada in 1963, his career encompassed positions with the Toronto Transit Commission, Hawker Siddeley, Pullman-Standard, Urban Transportation Development Corp., Nippon Sharyo, TTA Systems, and Bombardier Transportation. Wright also ran The Wright Connection, his own sales and marketing services business. For the past two years, he served as President of Woojin IS America Inc., a Korean supplier of electrical and electronic equipment to the mass transit industry with an office in Irwindale, Calif.
