TÜV Rheinland Mobility said Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2013, that its Rail Safety Consulting division has been awarded the second portion of a two-part consulting contract by the Alaska Railroad Corp. (ARRC) involving PTC deployment.

TÜV RSC will assist with the ongoing development and deployment of ARRC's Positive Train Control (PTC) system. The initial contract was awarded to RSC in 2010.

TÜV RSC services will primarily address system safety program support to help ARRC achieve PTC system certification from the Federal Railroad Administration. The services include engineering analysis and safety design guidance for the advanced PTC system functionalities being developed for ARRC's implementation of PTC, the company said.

Pittsford, N.Y.-base Rail Safety Consulting is a division of Newtown, Conn.-based TÜV Rheinland of North America, itself a subsidiary of Cologne, Germany-based TÜV Rheinland Group.

Last week TÜV Rheinland of North America said it is offering ISO 50001 certification service to companies across all industries.
