Massahusetts Bay Transportation Authority work crews replaced a 102-year-old bridge over Clayton Street in Dorchester, Mass., during the weekend, reopening MBTRA's Red Line (part of the 'T") for service by Monday morning, Nov. 11, 2013.

MBTA first dismantled the existing structure Friday night, before setting in motion its Accelerated Bridge Construction project, roughly six miles south of downtown Boston.

"There were little metal sticks, pylons, holding the bridge up and it had been dented on multiple occasions by cars," said Secretary of Transportation Rich Davey, who was at the site Saturday, according to local media.

Substitute bus service was provided during the weekend.
